How do I go from BORING to WOW with my hamburgers?
For ME, there is never anything wrong with a simple burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and some ketchup and mustard but … I do like to experiment from time to time and here is what I have done (just to name a few):
- The Fattie: Add finely minced onion and grated cheese to the meat prior to shaping into patties. This boosts the flavor and adds moisture for those of you who like your burgers medium to well-done.
- The Ranch House: For added flavor, I’ve added what some people call “Cowboy Butter.” This is simply a seasoned pat of butter put on the cooked patty after it is resting on the plate (see Pinterest for recipes).
- The Top Shelf: Caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, or fried bacon will take your burger to another world!
- Texas Style: I love jalapeños, bacon, and cheddar with a good sticky mesquite BBQ sauce too.
- Mornin’ After: For those with leftover patties from the night before, have one for breakfast. Serve it with an egg … and WOW! The warm runny yolk goes perfectly with the char on the patty. Have any sausage or bacon handy? Throw that on there, too!
- Pulled Porker: Some people also love putting some pulled pork bbq on their burger (with or without some slaw).
- A Pizza Burger: Add a sausage patty (or mix the sausage with your burger meat before grilling). Place on a toasted bun and top with mozzarella and pizza sauce.
- The Summer Dog: Combines a grilled hotdog (cut in half lengthwise) and the burger in one. Why not?!
- BUNLESS: KETO Friendly, all your good burger toppings and the patty wrapped up in a large leaf of lettuce. You’ll never miss the bun (unless you don’t like your fingers getting icky lol).
- There is nothing wrong with experimenting with a good thing … you can’t mess up! My theory is that the messier, the better. So have lots of napkins on hand and for GOODNESS SAKE ... capture it on film and send it too us!! We love seeing your creativity, your thoughts, and your mouth-watering creations!!
